“Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs.” Proverbs 10:12 NIV
Hatred brings strife. Love covers all offenses.
If your first reaction to something is hatefulness, it will only bring strife. So instead, choose love. Not in a hippie kind of way, but in a love your neighbor kind of way.
Love doesn’t always mean forgiveness. Love doesn’t mean you just let someone get away with what they’ve done. Love doesn’t mean not standing up for yourself. Love doesn’t let you be bitter.
Instead of those things, love means that you don’t let the offense define you or affect who you are. You are of a child of God, and He is more important. God wants you to love them despite their shortcomings, in the same way that He loves us in spite of our shortcomings. God still holds people accountable for their sins, and He still teaches lessons. So choose love, the love like Jesus. The same Jesus who healed the sick, and the same Jesus who flipped tables in the temple. Choose love.
