Gift of God Devotional

Read Hosea 8.

Woah! Israel is “swallowed up” (vs. 8), has “sold themselves” and will “waste away” (vs. 10), and has “forgotten their Maker” (vs. 14), to name just a few of their follies listed here. And in the end, God says this:

14”But I will send for on their cities that will consume their fortresses.”

God does not put up with rebellion. God calls us to love and worship Him – when we establish idols in our lives, no matter what they may be, God says that there is no tolerance for them.

Israel repeatedly cycled to worshipping idols in the Bible – and these were God’s chosen people! And now, the bar is set higher for us – we are Children of God.
