Hosea 12
Jacob struggled with God. Think about that word there.
Struggle (Merriam-Webster):
- To make strenuous or forceful efforts in the face of difficulties or opposition
- To proceed with difficulty or with great effort; to try to move something with difficulty; to fight with someone in order to get something
- To be failing: to be doing without success
To struggle implies that it is difficult and even painful. We so often want to think of God with this notion that He is a comforter, a peace, a shield, a protector. All of these are true, but we cannot belittle the fact that we can struggle with God and His plans for our lives. Every day we face difficulties, even when we do everything right. When we follow Jesus, we will struggle (John 16:33). But, with Jesus, we find strength and courage to overcome this struggle, even through pain.
What are you struggling with today? How can you give it up to God?
